| | Mount DuLac? Yes sir , we are back in WSA HillCross past here. This hill replaced Brainerd this year. Mt. Dulac is a nice place to race, very wide course so you can line up 10 wide to race. The only drawback is it is so far away from the hotels, but the staff and resort make up for that. It is a great place to race.
When we pulled in on Friday afternoon we had to park way back by the WSA trailer, remember what I said at Park X about Warrens sled? Anyways we got everything set up and Warren pulled his sled out to warm it up for some test runs, of course he ran it up right next to the WSA trailer. Both Wally and Matt Scheer, WSA Race Director's, came and talked to me about the noise. They even checked out the sled to see what exhaust we were using. After coming to agreement Warren now has to wheel his sled away from the pits because of the teeth chattering loud noise it makes. Of course Warren being a 20 year old took this in great stride, NOT! After one of our father and son talks (arguments) we agreed to never park next to the WSA trailer again since they do have to conduct business in there and that sled is loud, thanks Speedwerx it does sound awesome.
Well back to racing, we had two qualifying races on Saturday only. My first race I hit a double and some how I super manned it right into the ground, knocked the wind out of me and also tore a muscle which I wouldn't find out until after the season. I survived to race again, Dale Davidson was not so lucky, on the same jump he also crashed bad and tore his rotator cuff in his shoulder, he would not find that out for another few weeks. I guess we older guys consider these injuries as just a part of getting old, but when they don't go away is when we go the doctor and find out how bad we really are. You see, that way it ruins our summers, but we get to enjoy the rest of winter in pain.
Warren also had a bad crash, he was in the air when someone landed on him. It looked bad, when we got up to him he told us he thought his neck was broke, after the EMT removed a large chunk of ice out of his neck brace and helmet we were relieved to find out he was ok. Back at the hotel we went next door and had a good dinner with Timmy and his family. Well Sunday went better I would finish in second place with Doug Green taking the final. Warren finished seventh and tenth in 600/700 Improved. You have to remember that in his 600 class there were 22 racers this year and in the 700 class there were 19 racers, those are the largest two classes on the circuit.
